Why you should start now to sell more books this holiday season

It may seem like Black Friday, Cyber Monday and all of the other big holiday sales dates are a long way off. But the reality is that they’re just around the corner. And, what’s more, if you’re looking to take advantage of them in your book marketing efforts, you don’t want to wait until November to get started. In fact, any retailer can tell you that if you want to take advantage of the holiday sales rush, you’d better start early.

Make sure your book is right for holiday promotions

First of all, if it is November by the time you’re reading this, it might be too late for a big holiday push, but there are still some smaller things you can do. Bottom line here, you need to be realistic not just about what you have time for, but also what is appropriate for your book.

If your book isn’t selling already, then before you start planning big holiday book marketing efforts, you should look into why. If your cover isn’t great, or you need a stronger blurb or book description on Amazon, then solve this problem right away.

Timing is critical

Honestly, summer is the best time to think about taking the holiday sales market by the horns. This is especially true when it comes to media, but also for booking eBook promotion dates and planning for blogger exposure, since they often need to be reserved pretty far in advance.

Getting your book holiday sales ready

The holiday sales market isn’t a normal sales funnel, in that you must present your book as a novelty. You can start by updating your Amazon book page to say something like “A Perfect Gift for your Best Friend this Holiday Season!” or “A Perfect Gift for Your Young Reader!”

You have to work for your piece of the holiday sales pie by making your book that much more special.

So how do you stand out from the crowd? I’ve actually just published a new book, 50 Ways to Sell a Sleigh-Load of Books: Proven Marketing Strategies to Sell More Books for the Holidays, that shares 50 easy-to-follow strategies with step-by-step instructions and examples used by other successful authors that will teach you how to capture those valuable holiday sales.

There’s even a bonus checklist, my personal recommendations for useful websites, and a special offer if you’d like to collaborate on your marketing plan. If you’d like to check it out, it’s available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F29FRPL.
